1. Drive Time and Mileage

Your vehicle is an essential business asset. When you travel 50 miles each way to an event, you are spending money on gas, wear-and-tear, and most importantly, your time. The IRS allows you to deduct mileage, but beyond taxes, you must factor the hard cost of transportation into your event overhead. If an event requires 4 hours of round-trip driving, you have effectively added an entire half-day to your labor hours.

2. Booth Fees and Insurance

While the booth fee itself isn't 'hidden,' its true impact is. If a booth costs $250, you don't just need to make $250 to break even. You need to make enough to cover the COGS (Cost of Goods Sold) for the items you sold to hit that $250. Additionally, many organizers require you to carry short-term vendor insurance—an extra $40-$100 expense that instantly cuts into your weekend's bottom line.
